FIDUCEO researcher Gerrit Holl (University of Reading) was awarded the Silver Oral Presentation Award at the 21st International TOVS Study Conference (ITSC), organised from 29 November to 5 December in Darmstadt, Germany.
At the meeting, Gerrit presented the HIRS FCDR work in an oral presentation titled “A new Fundamental Climate Data Record (FCDR) for nearly 40 years of measurements from the High resolution Infrared Radiation Sounder (HIRS) based on a metrologically traceable uncertainty analysis”.
Gerrit presented the FIDUCEO HIRS work on the first day of the conference and had many fruitful discussions for the remainder of the week. Many meeting participants said they found the FIDUCEO work important. The award, which consists of a certificate and decorated German gingerbread, is another recognition that the FIDUCEO work is already having an impact on the Earth Observation community.
ITSC is a biennial meeting for research in the exploitation of measurements from operational sounders such as those flying on polar-orbiting satellites operated by NOAA, EUMETSAT, or CMA.
